I have a friend who I need to take out the weekend following this one. I would love to hook up with you if you are game. I started teaching him to ski and plan on expanding his horizons a bit by working on his technique and letting him test my trainer slalom. If you are interested in hooking up that weekend, we can make a day of it and have a little fun. Whaddyathink? :) I will have my new boom and if you need a pull I am sure we can work out reciprocal pulls if you know what I mean?

Gordon,
Unfortunately I just changed jobs a couple of days ago, and have no time off yet. I left Disney to work for the state, and won't get any floaters for a while. I kept the same basic schedule, working weekends with a couple of weekdays off. Thanks for the invite, though.
Maybe Ed would be interested, but I know he is marathon training. I wonder if he's seen this thread....I'll summon him with the magic chant:
BEER

What weekdays do you have off? I generally put my wife on the water on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am open though to almost any other day. My wife has been wanting to go to the Clermont chain and this will give us an excuse. Unfortunately my friend can only ski for a full day on weekends when he is off, so that limits the schedule there. But I wouldn't mind hooking up with you. If you want to set aside a day a week, we can hook up whilst I am in town. Kneeboarding tourneys over the next two months are pretty local, so I won't begin the next road trip until August.

Gordon,
My wife and I have Weds and Thursdays off...we have some family coming in over the next couple of weeks, but July looks good. Let's do it. Maybe we can convince Ed to call in sick on a Thursday.
Bruce,
Yeah, I'm working in a parks department, it's practically in my backyard. No more 30 minute commute. Hi's have been in the low 90's all month. Hope you find something here soon!

Thursday mornings are a good time for me. I ski with our ski group in the afternoon, but I won't complain about skiing in the morning too. Odds are I will get a little more time on the water since there won't be as many of us that morning. How about around the 8th or 9th of July?
BTWYellow..., Florida sucks too. It has been skiing weather since the middle of January and it's too darn hot to stay out of the water. It really does stink, you should find someplace else to move to! ;) Hey, I have a great idea. Bring your miserable butt down here for a week and Brian and I will show you skiing Florida-style! After a day of that you WON'T want to move here for sure! :) Have you ever used a 'gator for a jump ramp? If not I will take you to Lake Washington in Melbourne. We will show you how to ski an alligator slalom course!

Ed,
I hope you are joking.....too hot to stay out of the water?????? I boarded there in March and it was GREAT the whole week was 80 to 90, although a little windy. Nothing compared to the wind I get in ND! Alligator slalom course sounds like it might add a little challenge to skiing. Isn't Orlando the "wakeboard capitol of the world".
I have been boarding a total of 4 times so far, now that SUCKS!

The temps have been in the mid to upper 90's with a 70 - 90% relative humidity. When I say it is too hot to stay out of the water, I mean it! It was tongue-in-cheek, but reality is, it has been hot this week and our thunderstorms have been unpredictable, which is the bad part. I prefer it when you can set your watch by them. That way you know when to ski and when not to. As far as wakeboarding or any serious watersports for that matter, Florida is the place to be. Most of the best coaches are here and we boast some of the best ski schools in the nation as well as skiers and boarders.
BEER?
I thought I heard someone say beer!

Gordon,
The 8th of July is a Thursday, which would work for us. Are you sure you want to drive up here for the mornin, and back again to ski in the PM? Anyway, that day works for us, and we don't mind at all getting out on the water early.
Brian
I'm gonna be off on Thursday July 8th! Unfortunately, I will be in Pittsburgh celebrating me mom's 90th birthday. You guys have fun and someone drink a beer for me. Throw the empty on my dock with the upside down jon boat.
Brian, where are you now working? Are you working for Chuck and Andy?

You are talking to the guy who will skate 26 plus miles in the morning and then ski for 4 or 5 hours in the afternoon. My skate team nicknamed me the bull moose and it wasn't because of some sick sexual thing! :)
Now Ed, as for your beer can. I never mix alcohol and sports, so I will have to pick up someone else's beer can to deposit it on your dock. I take my sports VERY seriously. I am starting to rub off on my wife too. She used to feel a lot differently. But now that she is getting good at water skiing, she is as bad as I am. Too bad you will be out of town though. I would love to have the opportunity to meet you.
I'd enjoy meeting you too Gordon, but as you describe yourself, I get the feeling you wouldn't like me very much.
I have had my share of serious athletic competition in college and I refuse to take it that seriously anymore.
I don't try to be and never will be a pro athlete at anything, just one that partakes in various physical activity for pure pleasure, fun and lifetime wellness.
Beer drinking is part of my carbo loading routine for long runs and a must have on my boat!
Actually, if you were out skiing with my wife, brother in law & I and you started getting too serious, we would throw you overboard and leave you floating there till you chilled out.
I am out running on West Orange trail (start @ mile "0") every Saturday morning at 6:00 am. Perhaps you may have skated by me.
You guys have fun!

Actually I am not quite that bad. I don't allow beer or alcohol on my boat anymore because those who do bring it don't have to clean up their mess. Also I will not drink and drive a boat. A conviction will get my driver's cert revoked. That is not a good thing for my wife or anyone I drive for. I ski for fun and enjoyment. But I also ski safely and that means alcohol is not in the cards until the skiing is over. Now once skiing is over, it is katy bar the door. But as long as people's lives are in my hands, the alcohol is not. I have tipped brewskis with some of the best drivers and skiers around, but not until we get off the water.

Ed,
Yup, I'm working for Chuck and Andy. I'm at the park Fridays-Tuesday. Stop in and say hi.
Brian
Brian, where do you work out of? Does on find you at the entrance ranger station or down at the maintenance bldgs?
I haven't been running there for the last couple of months due to the heat, direct sun and absolutely no shade.
I am an annual pass holder and used to run there at least 3 times a week. Just about every one there has waved to me on the road at one time or another. Man they sure do have a high employee turn over there - what's that all about.
I understand Larry Rescoe's buddy and neighbor, Scott (Ramy I think) now works there. He is one huge dickhead. Don't turn your back on him.

Thanks for the warning, Ed. I work in the field, so I'm mostly down at the shop. I can't explain the turnover, must be it's just not for everyone, or they plan on going elswhere after they get experience. I like it there and I'm staying put, hoping for a permanent Ranger position when they get an opening.
