After an unbelievable week on the slalom ski setting some new personal bests, I am now ready to take a break. This last week I skied Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in serious performance sets, Sunday in a ski show in Lakeland and Tuesday in another serious performance set. I must confess, I am in quite a bit of pain today from all the performance skiing, a rarity for me. So Thursday I have decided to take it easy and slow down the boat a bit. My goal Thursday is to begin learning to trick ski.

For those who may not know, trick skis are like skiing on bars of floating soap! It should be good for a laugh and prepare me for some neat stuff ahead. My ski coach thinks I will catch on pretty quick thanks to my wakeboarding. I hope he's right! I will see if I can get some photos to post up here for you guys to laugh at! ;)

I hear what your sayin!

I ran 20 miles on Sunday and then turned around and did 10 hilly miles on Tuesday.

On Thursday, I'm gonna learn to trick run by wearing shorts that have naked buttocks painted on the back.

Just hope those rangers at the State Park don't arrest me cause they think I'm running through the park naked.

I think you should post photos of the arrest!!!!! :p

Trick skis are a blast......when we have guests in our boat I usually bring 'em along. They're good for when it's time to just have fun and make an ass of yourself. They don't take up much space in the boat, either.

If we think you're running naked through the park Ed we'll be looking the other way!

Ok, one of my ski buddies did a good job of photo shooting my first skiing on trick skis today. I started on the boom today and didn't do too bad.

Easy (http://home.earthlink.net/~fastsk8r/Photos/easy.jpg)

But that was before the boat turned!!! Boy was that a trick! Here I am doing the beginners screw up:

Uh oh!!! (http://home.earthlink.net/~fastsk8r/Photos/uhoh.jpg)

But alas, I got off the boom and hit the 75 foot line and fared a bit better:

Maybe (http://home.earthlink.net/~fastsk8r/Photos/maybe.jpg)

Ok, ok, so it wasn't pretty! But what do you want for a first timer? I actually had a blast on them and started working on side slides and 180s. I couldn't seem to get them down pat, but I will continue to work on them over the next couple of weeks. I actually got pretty confident by the second set and considering my friend was expecting me to do a major face plant on the first set, I didn't do too bad. I almost hated to disappoint him! :p

I was until that day. It was rainy and cloudy all day. No sun equaled no warmth. Odds are I will be in a full suit this weekend thanks to a weather change here. So much for our Florida winter! Is nothing sacred??? ;)

I seem to recall saying that I didn't go skiing on Christmas day cause it was raining and cool and you came back with the retort that I needed to get bigger hanging things.

Ah yes grasshopper, but I skied didn't I? ;) I will confess though, I'm not skiing tomorrow. The high here is 55 degrees with a 20 mph north wind. I am going to wait until Thursday to get back on the water. 65 with a 6 mph wind is much more managable, not to mention there won't be whitecaps in the course. Believe it or not, as bad as the weather was on Sat we did a work day on the lake to fix the slalom course. 6 of us braved the elements to replace some damaged buoys and tighten the course. Since I was the course mechanic, I spent most of the afternoon in a bathing suit on the swim platform replacing buoys and installing latex cords to tighten the course. And my boat didn't gripe one iota!!!! :p I'm telling you, replace it with one with thingies!!!! :)
