Just brought our new 2011 Outback home last weekend. When I was getting ready to leave, the dealer mentioned that I should remove the bow cushions to make sure they didn't blow out ( trailering uncovered ). Our old boat had snaps to fasten the cushions in.

Has anyone come up with a creative idea to fasten these cushions in without making holes in the fiberglass??

Thought about professional velcro?

Any / all ideas are appreciated!

Thought about professional velcro?

I think a few have done this. Also think somebody put in hinges of some sort. Or, take them out and throw into the rear lockers.

I've towed my Outback around the S.E. quite a bit and the cushions have not moved. Guess I am lucky.

never had a issue with bow cushions-but its a LSV, Have had the seat cover behind the driver seat and the cooler seat cushion blow free one time but that happened while towing at 80mph. add velcro from walmart to the 4 corners and no issues since.

One thing the velcro will not stick to the black seat bottoms so i just added stainless staples to it to hold it-there is no way that seat will blow out as it takes some force to lift it off now.

No issues with the 2010 Outback V, you can hardly get the damn bow cushions off when you WANT to get into the storage...

I need to use Stacy's velcro idea on my two little side cushions in the back- the one above the fake cooler and the one across from it. We've been throwing the smallest one in a rear locker each time we tow.

Yea our Bow seats are pretty difficult to pull out. The only seat i ever worry about is my cooler seat. We have towed a lot and never had one come loose. The Velcro is a great idea and we might have to add that tot he cooler seat since its the only one that is slightly loose fitting.

I think the tiny one behind the driver's seat is the one that flew out on Stacy. Does yours fit tightly?

I went with hinges on those two seats and have been very happy with it. After the barn door they are the next two frequently used seats in my boat, so the hinges make it a little easier to get in and out.

Thanks for all of the replies!

Hoping if the weather holds today that I may get her out on the water for some engine break-in on the maiden voyage!

Can't wait for summer since the long frozen tundra like winter and very wet spring!

when i first bought my boat i was driving 65 mph into a 30-40 mph head wind and lost the cooler seat cushion. i was able to find it but the corners were a little tore up. i have sinced used HEAVY duty velcro to keep them down

Ditto - but then again we only have the 3 in the bow to worry/not worry about

I had the cooler seat come loose one time as well in the LSV but it stayed in the boat... That was towing at like 75 or 80. Since then I've slowed down, and am going to do the velcro idea. Good to know that the velcro has issues sticking to the black seat bottoms.

I also have never had an issue with our Outback, never gave it a second thought. May have to pay more attention.....

Get a $100 dollar one size cover with straps for trailering and extending the life of your good cover. Terrible for mooring but great to save cushions et al.

I used Velcro and it works like a charm.

I've never had a problem with a butterfly cushions, behind the driver's seat, but again, DD type, seat cushions and free radiator shock, but at 80mph it happened while towing. And, add Velcro to the four corners of Wal-Mart does not have any problem.
