View Full Version : New Outback owner
Howdy folks! I am a new Outback owner. Actually, I have one on order and expect to take delivery in mid May. I live in Clermont, Fl (20 minutes from Disney) and will be boating and skiing nearly 12 months out of the year on the Clermont Chain of lakes.
Anything special I have to watch out for in a brand new boat? Any break in procedures?
Will I be doing any damage to the boat if I am "beaching" it instead of docking?
Sorry for all the questions - so much to learn!

Well congrats on the new boat, you picked a good one. Just a coup;le of thoughts. The dealer will tell you about the break in procedure and adhere to it, because that is the start to the rest of the life of the motor.
On the topic of beaching the boat I would not. There is too much chance for damage to the skeggs and the prop and shaft. The boat can be anchored just off the shore just make sure that all the boat is in the water. Questions are good we all have them. Good Luck.

Hi Ed....I live in Clermont and my wife and I ski that chain regularly. We also have an Outback....small world! If you'd like to meet up on the chain sometime, let me know. We usually ski on Lake Louisa, but now that the water is back we venture out on other lakes as well. If you see a yellow Outback LS with a tower flying the American flag, that's us. Look forward to meeting you, and checking out that new boat.

Hi Ed....I live in Clermont, and bought a new Outback a little over a year ago. We spend a lot of time skiing and wakeboarding on the Clermont chain. If you'd like to go for a few sets on our boat or meet out on the water when you get your Outback, just let me know. Good luck with the new boat, if you bought it from the Moomba dealer in Sanford you'll find that the owner Bob Campbell is a great guy and very helpful.
If you see a yellow Outback LS with a tower, that's us. See you on the lakes!

I live in a subdivision called "Hills of Lake Louisa" off of Oswalt rd (which is off of Lake Shore). We have our own ramp on Lake Louisa. If you ever need a place to drop your boat in the water let me know.
My wife and I used to haunt the lakes every weekend on a pair of Kawasaki stand up jet skis, a 1985 Ski Supreme and a 1994 Yamaha Waverunner 3 (when there was water in the lakes).
Up until March 21st, I owned a condo at Vacation Village and used their beach to land the vehicles when taking beer breaks.
I am buying my boat from Bob Cambell. Nice guy. I ordered the boat March 15th in order to take advantage of the boat show deals.
Yes, I would be interested in taking a ride!

One question...have you seen the slalom course set up in minnehaha? Course can be seen driving south on Lakeshore. Do you know if anyone can use it?
My brother in law saw someone in a yellow boat running the course - wonder if that was you.

Hey Ed, yes I've seen the course on Minnehaha, that was probably us you're brother-in-law saw. From what I understand, a slalom course on a public lake can be used by anyone regardless of who set it up. I think the guy with the ski boat docked near the course set it up, we were actually going to stop by his house and make sure he didn't mind us using it. We have just played on it a couple of times, and haven't actually driven the whole thing yet.
I'll send you an email, and we can arrange to get out on the water soon.
