I am about 180 miles from my boat right now, any chance someone could snap me a photo of the back of the stock deck in a 06 LSV?

Snyder,

Have 2 '08 LSV's sitting 100 ft from me I can take a pic of. Will that help? What, specifically, do you want a pic of?

if it's the same deck, just the back of the stereo and the wires running from it.

thanks!

Don't know if it's the same. Do you know your model number?

A mess is what your up against! Seriously, the factory is not known for "clean' wiring so if it's never been touched back there it will be hard to decipher anything from a pic, not to mention that a straight on rear pic in an LSV is almost impossible due to space. What exactly are you trying to do?

well, i have no car audio experience whatsoever.. just trying to figure out if it would just be a straight swap to upgrade to the Kenwood KMR-550U.

like using existing wire harness and existing remote on drivers seat. just simply pulling out the old deck and putting in new one.

looks like it will plug and play asumming the wiring for power ground and remote lead is the same, but when you compare the plugs the 232 has lots of blanks , so some of the functionaly of the newer unit wont be used unless you re wire the whole interface.

soldering isn't that bad, it's just being able to do it in the storage below the radio...

I installed my 550u in less than 15 minutes. It really isn't as difficult as it is being made out to be.

Wire the new harness up to your existing power, speaker, and remote wires, then put your radio in and plug the harness into the new radio. Voila...install complete.

did you have to do any soldering with hooking up the new harness? was it easy to get access?

No, I used crimp caps. It's pretty easy just slide lay on your back and then crawl head first in your observers compartment and it's right there. Space is tight but it's not difficult.

What brand remote do you have? I swapped out my kenwood last week, but lost the external out for the aware remote. Should I hook to the steering wheel wire?

That should work. I have two of the Kenwood KMR107 remotes. They are kinda spendy but they are so much nicer than those aeware remotes. I had those aewares in my old boat and had a few problems with them.

also, anyone know what that type of plug is called on the back of the old deck? maybe I can find the other matching end at radio shack so I can keep the wiring harness detachable.
