the press for the 2007 Outback V states that the V comes standard with a Rad-A-Cage tower, but the wake tower is a seperate option.

What's the difference between the two towers?

ed, if i understand you question correctly, the tower is a option on the outback v, but standard on the mobius lsv.

hope that make sense.

also, the towers between the two are different. the lsv is the newer type.

go to: Community/news/go boating test - Outback V

One sentence states: " the boat comes standard with an adjustable driver's seat with bolster, a rad-a-cage tower (though the wake tower is a separate option), good size storage at the stern and a big ski locker for gear and boards."

The syntax of that sentence makes me believe there is a Rad-a-cage tower and an optional wake tower.

If you look at "Five Notable Standards", the rad-a-cage is listed there too.

so, my question is - what is the difference between the rad-a-cage and the optional wake tower??

ed, i agree with what you are saying and they, skier's choice may have changed it.

but i know for 06 it was a 1700 upcharge.

in regards to the tower differences, i have no clue. from the pics it appears to be the older rad a cage tower that they have been using for years.

it is a solid tower i can say.

now with that being said and you being the moomba ambassador, you might have a little pull :P

Ed,

It's called badly written copy!

SC's name for their towers is "Rad-A-Cage" - Trademarked I think. So no matter what piece of metal they attach to the boat, it will be the rad-a-cage.

The "wake tower" was a generic term the review used ,and they should have written:

Our test boat came with x,y,z.... though the tower was optional.

The Mobius LSV comes standard w/ a tower. The XLV comes standard w/ a tower. All other models have it as an option. I think the V should be standard with it, since that is how they are selling the boat, but then the MSRP goes up... so lame marketing, but I see why.

The L and XL models all have the newer larger diameter 2 connection point tower (folds backwards). The base Moomba and V have the older model with the 3 connection points (folds forwards). The new one will Not fit the V since it is for a wider and longer hull.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Hmmm, that "Five Notable Standards" (including the tower) sure seems clear enough.

:LOL

Again, your trusting "Go Boating" vs people who actually KNOW the boat.

They write hundreds of articles, and do not always have the right information.
