That used to be a great site. It was working a couple weeks ago - honest.

so will we have our one FAQ that we can print out, laminate, maybe an 800 number to call from the water for pointers?

seriously though Ed, you had previously put up a step by step thing, can you do that again? I will be buying surf board in the next few weeks and beginning my education.

we should pass our 10 hrs this weekend if the weather gets warm, then we can really start to play.

thanks

Hey thanks ED,

I want to learn how to Wakesurf! I need something that is more in line with my great athletic abilities! SLOW AND EASY!!!

ok. lets put together a step by step manual for wakesurfing. Hopefully everyone will contribute.

My first suggestion is....

learn how to get up on your wakesurf board (deep water starts).

Using your ski or wakeboard rope at full length, float on your back with your heels on one edge of the board (edge depends on you being regular or goofy footed).

Have boat driver SLOWLY pull boat forward.

As slack in the rope tightens up, push board down with your heels so it pops up perpendicular to the back of the boat. As soon as the board is up on its side, driver should begin to go forward at about 8 mph.

Having your heels on an edge, gives you leverage to flip board on it's side. If your heels are too far towards the centerline of board, it's real hard to flip board up.

Now as you are being dragged forward, stay in a small croutched position and turn nose of boat towards back of boat.

Getting up on a wakesurf board is real similar to getting up on a wakeboard, but you don't have bindings.

When you get up using the long rope, practice crossing the wake and getting used to the feel and balance of a surfboard.

Spend your entire day using that long rope until everyone can get up every time they try and you start to feel comfortable on the board.

It's actually quite fun to "slalom" 75 feet back on a surfboard.

Next issue....."into thin water"

Ed,
Do you recommend wearing a helmet. We are gonna give surfing a try next time out and my wife is concerned with the board hitting her in the head on falls. Is that a problem.
thanks

if she feels more comfortable and it gets her doing it, why not.

Keep in mind that your only going about 9 mph, but I suppose their is always a chance you could get hit in the head.

I always surface with my arm up in the air to block anything incoming.
