Well i took my 04 outback out tursday for some wakesurf fun. But i must say i could not get a good wake to save my life. I had 500 in the front 450 on the side and 600 in the back and still no wakesurf wake. Any help swould be great. Had the PP set starting at 11.5 and worked it all the way down to 8.8 and nothing.

You can visually check to see if your wake is gonna be "surfable" before you even start your engine.

You want most of the weight in the rear corner. The rub rail in that corner should be no more that 2 to 3 inches above the surface of the water and the swim platform submerged...with the boat at rest.

I have a 2003 Ouback DD. With that hull shape, if I put any weight in the front, it kills the wake. All my ballast is in a rear corner placed to form a capital "L".

I put surfable in quotes above because a very good wakesurfer actually can surf behind a boat with no ballast, with a wake no higher than his ankles.

I'll try to see if I can get Surfdad to post a photo of his son James doing that. James is a National WakeSurfing Champ.

In my Outback I run 750 under the rear seat, 450 down the side of the motor, and 300 in the bow. It throws a nice surf wake.
