who originally asked this question?

I gotta tell you it might not be a bad idea.

I was smaked in the head today with my own board after a fall. It actually knocked me kinda loopy.

An hour later, my brother in law thru the rope to me when I was in the water, and it hit me right on the crown of the head.

An hour after that, my wife suddenly pulled back on the boat throttle while I was surfing, and I went flying into the rear of the boat behind the engine cowling.

If I had major life insurance, I'd swear they were trying to kill me.

Ah, life on the water behind a Moomba. Ya gotta love it!

definetly better than a day at work!

I still have a sore lump on my head from the board giving me a kiss on the head :)

I asked my wife yesterday what in the world made her pull back on the throttle so fast.

God love the woman. Her reply was, "I decided it was my turn to surf".

I don't wear a helmet but I usually cover my head with my forearms during a fall.

My wife wears her helmet for both boarding and surfing. She's been trying to convince me to get one since she got one.

She talked me into a helmet for snow skiing after about a year. The second trip wearing it an out of control skier hit me and knocked me out of my bindings. Sure glad I had the helmet on then because it would have been much worse for me otherwise. (Instead it was much worse for the bad skier as my helmet hit him in the midsection.)

Anyway yesterday just as we were leaving another boat flagged us down. One of their riders had been doing some sick jumps, but I just figured they had engine trouble. Well it turns out their rider had gone down hard after a monster 360 and blacked out for a moment. They had already pulled him onto the swim platform and called 911, but they were a bunch of young guys and pretty freaked out. The kid was conscious and mostly coherent, but had coughed up some blood and didn't remember the jump. He said his head hurt really bad.

We stayed for about an hour picked up the first responders from the launch, since a rescue boat hadn't come yet.

Needless to say, I'm shopping for a helmet now.
