Mrs Daze,
I gotta question the Wakesurfing Gloves?
No ED! No yutz or peeing stuff here!
He was doing the Hai Majedi from I survived a Japaneese Game Show.

Fixed. Sorry I let that slip. I was having some fun but also trying to point out why women might actually like their own area.

Never been on that one. I'll have to see if Moombadaze has. I meant to write Columbia river anyway. I guess I've been away too long.
That is what I like to see, Happy Daddies like those two of Moombadaze and Bambam! Bambam, Zegm told me you have an LS like us. What is your kiddage situation? Count? Ages? What do they and Pebbles ride behind the LS?
Moombadaze - good to see you with no rope (and no gloves)!

Nice pics everybody. Bam, I can tell you didn't grow up wakeboarding but your slalom is a different story. I resisted the wakeboard for a couple years before I gave in. I enjoy both now and even some surfing to. Love that water! Sure did miss it this weekend watching it storm all day both days.

Mrs Z. yes we do have the LS, I have 4 kids age 14-19. Water skiing is to old school for them and since they never were around a boat til recently they have no desire to try it unfortunatley. As for my dear bride she too is new to the water sports and has been limited by a bad wrist this year, however she loves to tube and tells me its better then disneyland.LOL. Kane I am not a wakeboarder, however with that said I did do a 180(on purpose) and go from one side to the other with no difficulty on my first ride. I think I will really like this as I grew up a surfer in Central Ca. Too much fun these boats!!!!!

I love the boating life and have been around boats my whole life. There are more pictures of me as a baby in my mom and dads old pace ship then there are of me in say a swing set? My mom tells a story about my family and another family out on Lake Nipigon trout fishing when giant storm comes in. My mom and the other mom are both pregnant (about 7mnths). The ride was so rough and dangerous that my dad had to pull into a quiet bay and wait it out. Story goes I was almost born on water.
My wife and I ordered our 1st boat together just before we got married and even before we signed the mortgage for our 1st house. My kids are like fishes, with my 8 year old chomping on the bit for his JR Scuba ticket when he turns 10. They all love the water and weekends on the lake are just how it is for them, they don't know anything else. Again more pictures of my kids in the water and on our boats than of anything else.
For us it's all about family time, just how I remembered it. When I was 16 I still wanted to hang out at the lake over hanging out with the neighbourhood "rat pak".
This being said, here is a pic of my kids having fun with dear old dad while catching a nap in our Outback. The second one is how far I'm willing to push the season.

Sled, hate to say it but something looks very wrong with that water you are trying boat on with the toon. But i gotta ask whats up with the engine hoist?
Sled491
08-20-2008, 08:30 PM
Daze, sometimes up where I live for some the reason the water gets very hard! The toon I truned into a mini barge for building our lake house which as you may or maynot know is on an island with no bridge. I put the davit on to help load and off load materials, but fact of the mater is that it is in the way more than it is useful.
You can go to my albums and see pictures of the progression of our lake house to date.

Hey, Sled - Looked at the pics. I figured that by now you would have that house practically, if not completely, finished. I mean, after all, you're a contractor. At least that there would be running water and electricity to enjoy this summer. That's okay. It's takin' shape and lookin' real good. You got till next summer to finish, when we hold the national jamboree at your place. - Deerfield

Deerfield, couple of problems. One, as I type this I'm sitting in a hotel room in Phoenix AZ and have been here for 6 wks with weekends at home and have another 6 wks to go. After this job we will probably end up in NC for the rest of the year. Second, I'm building it cash, so sometimes things go slower than others.
But Mechanicles are going in over the next couple of weeks. Windows are about 4 wks out. My intention was always to be ready for next summer, as soon as the kids get out of school we will move there for the summer.
As far as hosting a National Jamboree sure, my Home owners association at the lake has already volunteered us to host next years annual meeting and picnic. So lets get Natalie to start sending out the notices, heck, we have a private launch!

Yeah! Until she sees the Hard Water! I dont think water softeners work on that stuff!

Sled, I just checked out the lake house pictures. Very cool! Moombadaze is right, ready to move. But then I'd have to leave all my new FL friends:confused:.. But I'd be closer to family in MN.. But I'd have to find a new job...ok back on topic. Oh, one more thing, I'm surprised Moombadaze didn't mention the snowmobiles. That probably had him thinking about moving.
Hey! Hey! Hey!
Whats wrong with warm water???? Actually my rule was I wouldn't get in the water until the first day of June!!!! :-D But because we had this new awesome boat I broke my own rule.

We over the last year and a half have been talking about moving either to NC or to FL as it would be a bit better for our work and because my wife hates the cold, even though she was born and raised in WI. But we asked the kids. At first they were all for it, as they have been to Florida and thought weekends at the beach surfing and playing in the pool and as much boat time as they can handle. Then we mentioned no more snow, and snowmobiling, and snowmobile racing. That stopped the conversation dead. To this day, my wife is still working them over! :)

My cousin moved to St. Pete about 20 years ago. He keeps a place in Wisconsin. They go up there every winter for some sledding. I think they go up for a week in the summer too.
What was wrong with the midwest for me was the dead time. There was only about 12 weeks out of the year that were really good for watersports. In IL, there were only a few weeks with any real snow and no hills anyway. Most of the time the weather was just lousy. If you have to go to Colorado to have fun in the snow you may as well leave from FL instead of IL. Maybe it's better in WI though.
And Sled look how many friends you have here already!!!!
I wonder if you could put some of those wheels, you know like roller blade wheels on the front skis of your snow mobiles, call them sandmobiles and have a blast on the beach?
And the kids excuse, are you sure you are not using that because you might have some hidden issues with the Big Green Swimming Lizards???? :p
Sled491
08-22-2008, 06:33 PM
No to be honest I'm not all that worried about the lizards. But for me moving to WI was already a 600 mile trek south, to go the next 1200 or so would put most of my original family and friends out of reach. I love every thing the south has to offer. I have friends in West Palm with a Dive charter business, and that is just about as fun for me as skiing, I would be on the lake I bet 10mths of the year, I could be deep sea fishing with you about once a month, and my wife would never get cold again.
But there is something about fall up here. The leafs change colour, you go out with a sweat shirt and have a bonfire an roast hot dogs in the fall, everybody else has left the lake so it's real peaceful. The snow comes and everything seems clean again. You get to rip through the forest at 90mph just digging everything around you, good clean fun.
I don't know, for me, I would get over it and be able to enjoy the extra water time, but still is a big decission, and just to move, to move would be expensive.
Funny thing, I was born in Indiana, lived in Chicago while I was young. Moved to GA in my teens, finally moved here in my #%'s. No matter where I move after 2 years winters are always cold but summers never get hotter, it just means my boating season gets longer. During the winters here we paddle the kayaks, nothing like cruising down a wild stream in the middle of the wilderness, especially when you know the big green ones are sleeping.
Now I know I have rules about the water but the rest of the family doesn't. We have pictures on here of our kids skiing in early April without any special equipment besides my Ariel towel. Maybe next year if I get a Moomba towel I might get in the water in mid May!!!!
Sled491
08-22-2008, 08:35 PM
Man your just not going to let up on the towel thing are you? Your like a Pit Bull or something!
I personally would dive year round. I have dove almost every month in Florida, in fact much like here where the peope disappear come late fall, same thing happens with the fair weather divers come Jan/Feb.
If I ever moved I think the 1st winter I would try to ski every weekend it wasn't storming, just to say I did.

When we moved to florida it was to be for 6 months, just to see a different part of the country, now 20 yrs later we are still here. I used to waterski in the colmbia river so i know cold water, but as you get older cold gets harder to take. we do miss the snow, just not the shovelling. Its funny to call my dad up and hear he is out moving snow with a shovel and on the same day im mowing the yard sweating.
