Awesome LittleDaze! MrsDaze, what board do y'all have? What is the length of it? What is the front fin for?

The board is a CWB Ride wakesurfer. I think it's 63". The front fin is to stabilize and "riding switch" (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong).

Since ours is a little young for action shots, here's one of him at the lake house on the July 4th weekend.

And then another one with my homemade ski trainer. And again i know it screams "You might be a redneck if..."

That first pic may be the first morning we were there and she hadn't made it in the water yet (or she was empty). We've got a boom for next year and we're hoping he'll be doing a real ski trainer. Got to learn to swim first I guess.

Here are a couple pics of my then 11 year old now 12 behind our bayliner 175xt. He broke his leg mid May playing baseball sliding into 2nd (he was safe), he was in a cast until mid July, Had to wait a couple of weeks to strap on a board but then left for 2-week camp. We picked him up from camp on Sat. and it has rained since. The poor kid has not ridden behind our new Outback V all summer and it is killing us both.....

On the other hand I did get his 6 year old sister up on her board for the first time week before last. No pictures yet

Here is 2 of my girls about a week ago. They were both freakin out when I suggested a double pull, but they were game and loved it after they got up on the first try.

MrsZ

Cool Bambam! Do you have to pull a tube too? I think I see one. Mine like to go double on the kneeboard too. Then I freaked Zachary out and went skiing with him. He though that was cool too.

McM...hope you get out in the boat ASAP!

Tubes are always around, LOL. I acually tried it out myself last time out so I knew what they were always taalking about. I have to admit it was a blast! But I always will ski or board over the tube! But no sense in limiting ourself's.

When I saw the photo of your "ski trainer" It brought back the memory of when I was teaching my daughter. I bought a ski skimmer. Then I waterd the lawn had my daughter stand on the skimmer on the wet grass and I pulled her around the yard untill I was about to have a heart attack. She loved it. But the training paid off. She got up in the water with no problem! Time flies, that was two summers ago. Now she's a regular ol' pro getting up on trainer ski's with a reguar ski handle.

I think we invented "wagon skiing". You take an old ski rope handle and give it to the kid sitting in the Radio Flyer and then put the line through the handle on the wagon so it sticks up about 45 degrees. You pull the wagon around and they hang on. They can't affect steering as much as you can but they get the idea of holding on to pull their weight (plus the weight of the wagon but on wheels). It's a great trainer for cool days. Plus it only takes one hand to hold the rope so the other one is free to hold your new Moomba coozy.

I think we actually abandoned the Radio Flyer this year though and now have a nice plastic thing. I'll try to post a pup rider pic if I can.

I meant to also say that I saw that pic of Monty's ski training a while back. Based on that one alone I knew I'd like him even before I met him.

Wow, she's only six? Is she just turned six or almost seven? Even still my 5 yr old is still figuring out combos with moms help never mind up on a wakeboard. I don't know her name, but tell her Sled said "Awsum!" and congrats proud parents.

Here is my 12 yr old, she started footn last year, and would not get on a wakeboard at all. Something happened this summer and she has gotten a lot more aggressive with her watersports and has really gotten the wakeboard bug.

We bought the wakeboard a few weeks ago at the Bristol NASCAR race, and that is a story to itself!

Bama!
Your daughter is awesome! Now if Zachary sees that boom I am going to be out of some money!!!! MrsZ hasn't seen these yet (early to bed) but she is going to be spending that money!

Give me a few minutes, I have some pics of a teaching session recently on the boom. I will post them on my album. The boom is the best teaching device in the world!

Bama, very cool, must have had a good teacher eh? You have just the one or are there are any other future world watersports champs in the family?

You know if we could get a Moomba training camp going, with the young talent we have, Moomba could take over the competitive watersports world, wu ah ha ha ha!

MrsZ

McMoomba: Awesome girl!!!

Bamaspiveys: Now you did it. Zachary said "WOAH! We have got to get a boom! "

Terrific pictures. What are the two ropes coming off the boom near the end? Are they attached to the boat somewhere?

bamaspiveys
09-11-2008, 08:35 PM
Mrs Z
The two ropes are actually steel cables that attach to the bow eye with a quick clip.

The clamp on the pylon would rotate backwards with the pressure without the cables.
Also note my boom has an 18" extension, I found that the spray from my outback "distracted" the skiers.

Now since your boat has a tower, you can look at the new tower boom, it has a lot more flexibilty in height adjustment and if I was buying a boom today that is what I would buy.

If you gowith the regular boom and will be using the boom for kids and adults I suggest the height adjustment accessory. It makes it a lot easier to move the boom up and down, otherwise you have to loosen the bolts on the pylon every time you need to move it.

When you look at the price of the tower boom you will be shocked, but by the time you add the accessories to the regular boom you are pretty close to the same.

The upward pull the boom provides is really the secret to the success, so don't underestimate the importance of the adjustment.

I suggest looking at barefootcentral.com for the best price and best advice on booms.
Chuck and Michele Gleason own barefootcentral and eagle water sports, they will answer phone and email questions personally and the use all the stuff they sell.

good luck cant wait to see the pics!

Bamaspiveys, Thank you for all the information. I feel stupid calling a cable a rope. That sounds like something I used to make fun of my friend Heather for and I went and did it too! We are going to have to wait on that boom cause we are on a spending spree with the new dock and lift and now we are getting our garage fixed up too.

So, theres a lake to ski on and a place to hang out in PC for you next time you are here with your boat. :) Zegm just loves doing research before we buy anything so researching the boom is his next project!

I've got friends in PC, grew up in S GA just north of Mariana, so I have been to PC more than I can count. Live in middle TN now so I don't get down there much, but I will give you guys a call if we head that way.

Chuck and Michele won't steer you wrong, they are good people. Good luck with all the construction!

Nice job D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to show these around and get everybody here to get the bug. I'm sick of birthdays, Homecoming activities, Halloween parties and, dare I say it-- football! We haven't seen the water in over 2 weeks now and we're running out of time.

Have you gotten her on the shortline barefooting yet? Also do you have barefoot shoes? It helps lower the boat speed quite a bit and makes starts easier.

bamaspiveys

I have never used the barfoot shoes, I understand the principle behind them just never needed them.

She started trying the shortline deepwater start at the end of the season, but was never able to get up. I am sure she will get it next season, just ran out of time.
