View Full Version : Boat Buddy 1 or Boat Buddy 2?
Yesterday my brother in law gave me a boat buddy for my birthday.
For some reason it looks smaller than the one I had for the 2003, but I'm not positive.
What are most folks using, the BB 1 or the BB 2?

BB2 I used a BB1 and messed it up the first time I ever used it.. Id sell the one you have on ebay and get the BB2.

I won't touch one of these. Seen way too many issues with them. Search the web and you'll see all kinds of issues, mostly the pins don't engage and bend and the plastic covers crack and break shortly. I'll just stay with the old tried and true method. Just my 2 cents worth :)
Actually Razz, my tried and true method is the Boat Buddy. I only used the roller on my old trailer one time...the first time I launched the 2003. The 2nd time my boat was off the trailer, the Boat Buddy went on and I'll never have another trailer without it.
Thanks jclay. I can take the BB1 back to exchange it for the BB2. Just wasn't sure which one I had before.

I am with Ed, my MC came with a BB, and I was surprised the Moomba did not have one. I just assumed eveyone used them, I went straight to the MC store and bought one. Love it!
My wife backs the trailer down, I slide on, CLICK and we are headed out. Those bass boat guys just stare.... I love it

he should put the trailer a little deeper in the water.
this would negate the need to power load and prevent those scuff marks on the bow from sliding on the BBII

interesting read, not so sure this product is that great. Sounds like if you have the right ramp where you launch you may love it, but if your into a lot of different ramps like I am it may be more trouble then its worth.

Guy who bought my boat replied to me via email and he also confirmed that it is indeed a BoatBuddy 2.
I'm surprised that it's the same price buying it thru Moomba as it is thru Bass Pro Shops.
Loved my old Boat Buddy. Gotta have another.

Ed, did you get him hooked up on the BB yet, he's seems to be a moomba enthuaist( sp) and all;)
I've encouraged him to join in. I'm pretty sure he reads the boards.
In his last email he wanted me to know that his son said:
"they are Moomba-ing in their Moomba!!"

your right! I do need to get a new lock.
I did not get the swing away tongue option since I store the boat outside.

Ed, i think the swing away is standard now. that 08 trailer i borrowed had it and the 09 i have now has it and i did not ask for it. led lights are standard also.
Swing away tongue is standard with the Mobius - a $175 option on the Outback and Outback V.
Yes, Led's are standard on all trailers

and it looks like its a swing away trailer
yep it's got a $175 swing away trailer, $795 appearance package, $1.195 for the Tandem Torsion Axle Upgrade and at least $1890 for the radio and 2 tower speakers and A $695 upgrade for pattern E gel coat.
I bet that boat sells for about $45,000 out the door

That's why you buy at the boat shows. You get 4 things free! And you get to grind them, by looking over at the other boat dealers and doing your best "Well if that's the best you can do...maybe those guys will be willing to deal." I should point out though that this tactic did NOT work for me, however a mistake by the sales manager did end up 1K in my favour.

Sometimes it pays to wait until after the show too! I talked with my dealer (didn't know it then :)) back in January at the boat show about a '07 Supra 21V he had and was willing to part with fairly loaded for $43K + fees and such. He gave me his card and said call him. Well it took me 4 months to do so after we finally decided to and sold the old boat. I ended up with my '07 LSV loaded real well for $36,900, exactly his cost. He had five left, needed them gone and after all was said and done i paid $39,900 OTD with an upgraded stereo system (2 amps, tower box w/ 4 spkrs & dual batts), tandem trailer and all new boat equipment, neccessities and safety gear. Not a bad deal. :D
The irony of the story though is the Supra i passed on ... I've seen it twice now camped just a few spots down from us on out favorite lake! In fact last campout it was anchored right next to ours!
and then there are those of us who buy Moomba's without ever test driving one, without ever putting eyeballs on the model your gonna buy and at the wrong time of year...
all because a manufacturer's Marketing Rep says you should. I'm outta my friggen mind.
Spray date...October 2
