I have had a warranty claim in now since April, impossible to get anything fixed period.

I tried calling and calling Skiers choice, all the extensions would never pick up and the messages I left on the general mailbox were never returned.

Finally to get some answers, I had to punch the extension number for "Sales" in and within two rings someone answered the phone....how convenient...don't miss oneof those calls...

All in all the boat is a good boat, but between the dealerrship and the manufacturer, terrible customer service.

Sorry for you bad experience. My experience has been just the opposite. I think you are probably in a small minority. Hopefully it improves for you going forward.

skiers.... anyone.... buehler.....

I would guess you are in the small minority with your problems and hopefully skiers will chime in to help you get the situation resolved. I, too, had to get them to help out with an issue a couple of years ago and was very happy with the resolution. give them some time(know it's easy for any of us to say that)...

on another story, cousin really wants to sell his '06 tige 22ve for an x2. I think he's downgrading, but he is in love with the pickle bow and can't see paying what tige wants for the rz2. I don't think he's really priced them out :) mastercraft builds a good boat, but they really seem to be proud of them for some reason..

What dealer are you having problems with? What kind of problems with the boat are you having?

maxpower220

I didn't know he had a boat, I thought it was a just a warranty claim.

There is a good chance that no one who purchased a CC, MC or Bu has ever had a problem with a dealer, their boat, or the boat maker.

I wanted a post before this is deleted.

I could go on about my cousins tige above and the issues reflashing the brain. he lost most of the summer due to wrong flashes from tige. it happens, and unfortunately he has told many about the issue, but neglected to tell the same people about the great first summer he had on the boat, however he still talks up tige as the problems happen and he knows that next summer will be better than the last :)

keep after them and you will get help..

My dealer and service has been excellent for me. Now if you want to shell out big bucks for a Master Crap then go ahead. Way over priced for me. Plus my ego is not that big for the boat. I would get lost in it. HAHAHAHA

my dealer took great care of my warranty issue. i even had an indmar engine issue and i went to an alternate boat dealer to take care of that. all was handled well. too bad you feel you are getting such poor service. i don't think that flaming things will improve your chances of getting better service.

now, when will this thread be deleted?
i think it would be better if it was more fact based on what has/not happened.

Rgardipee,

My apologies for our phone system and the frustration it has created as you have tried to get through to our customer service area. Trying to keep things streamlined during slower times we have used an automated attendant for the last 6 months. My email is rtinker@skierschoice.com. Drop me a note, if you will and I will get your info to a customer service rep..asap or to the appropriate dealer.

All in all the boat is a good boat, but between the dealerrship and the manufacturer, terrible customer service.

I own a Supra and could not but help comment on this post. I have had a couple issues this year with my boat. The first happened early in the Spring when the dealer replaced my O2 sensor and flashed the wrong software on the ECU and perfect pass would not work, took a week and half and it was fixed. I also had the swivel board racks replaced by Roswell for free, it did take a couple months to get them, but they did replace them.

Last month I noticed a hairline crack in the rudder, never hit anything, a defective rudder. Took it down to the dealer, took some pictures, sent it in to SC and in about a week and half the part was ordered and is sitting at the dealer waiting for me to bring the boat in and have it installed. They are also taking care of a gelcoat flaw and a broken bilge pump #2 in the ski locker. I have been using the boat with the hairline crack with no problems and will be taking it in next month when I winterize the boat.

I had good results with both warranty claims, although I will say, expect your boat to be down for 2-3 weeks if you have a significant repair. By the time the dealer contacts skiers choice, they approve the claim, and ship the part out and have it repaired by the dealer it will take some time. How you have gone for months without any results is baffling???? I have a hard time believing you called SC and could not ever get a hold of someone in the warranty department. And obviously your dealer is horrible if this is how they are doing business and SC needs to be notified of this.

Here are some contacts for you:

Rob Loucks - RLoucks@skierschoice.com
Roger Lowery - RLowery@skierschoice.com

I have personally contacted both of them with good results.

I do have to say after posting this post, my warranty claim has been taken care of.

Yes your right I have been on here since June and just now brought it up because it has gotten to the point of rediculousness. I unfortunately don't have all the time to sit behind a message board all the time, my free time i like to get the boat out when I'm not working.

I have had other warranty claims taken care of right away with Skiers Choice. I am not sure if this was a perfect storm of events, but again I sent in my CD player April 22,2009 and it arrived back at my dealer on September 26th, 2009, 5 months later. Mind you this was all during boating season. I had to buy another cd player and put it in on my own dollar to ensure I could actually have music on my boat for the summer. Put yourself in my shoes, then tell me your thoughts.

The dealer said thier hands were tied and that it was all up to Skiers Choice.

Bottom line about the post, I have freinds who have mastercraft, they are expensive and they are nice. But I don't get me wrong I love my Moomba, it has a sick wake and is a great boat. However I specifically remember when buying my boat asking about the warranty and warranty claims and being reassured how easy it is. So when something like this happens it doesnt leave a good feeling in my stomach.

But to follow up once I posted this, I received much needed assistance and appreciate it. This was the service I was sold on and expect.

With that said you can Delete the post if you would like and all I ask is that you please provide we deserve as moomba customers, every single one of us. Thank you,

Robby

I have owned my boat for 2 years now, I also have had a few problems with it. I took it back to the dealer and problem was solved. I think that it has nothing to do with SC. I really think it has to do with the dealer. My brother-in-law also had a few problems with his Supra. Same story, he took it to the dealer and it was taken care of. The very first time, I had taken the boat out, it was 122 degrees on the water that summer. The engine vapor locked. I did not know this at the time. Took the boat in and SC had told the dealer to install a secondary pump in the boat. Never had a problem with it since. The guys that I deal with are a great bunch of guys. They really go out of their way to please the customer. Dumb question but does your dealer sell any other type of boats. Just wanted to see if they are focusing on a more expensive types of boats. My dealer does. But the difference is that they treat all customer the same, no matter what type of boat they are buying. Just my two cents.

They sell Moomba and Supra, thats it. The problem according to them was that my claim was stuck at Skiers choice, they had it in the system when they sent it in and it was a claim that had to be approved by skiers choice for a new stereo. This is what my dealer told me. Your correct about the other stuff, I have had other things go wrong and they fix it right away, but on this issue it took forever. It especially sucks when its the stereo thats broke because I am sure everyone uses thier radio when they are out.

The deck was not reading cd's and my remote was not working on the drivers side. I pulled the deck out to find out that the deck didnt even have a remote wire coming off the back of it at all.

10-22-2009, 02:36 PM
Sorry to hear it. As I understand it, these Kenwood head units don't have the lead for the remote on them from the factory - it is sent out someplace to have them added. They must have missed it on yours and I would have thought the guy in charge of wiring the remote would have noticed and said something. Your boat must have been built on a Friday :)

In my opinion, the dealer should have been following up on a regular basis with SC in your behalf, instead of you having to call SC directly. And I would have thought that at some point, the dealer would have taken a head unit out of a new boat on their showroom and swap it out for yours so that you could have a function stereo in the meantime (and they would have a satisfied customer).

Rgardipee
10-22-2009, 03:22 PM
Actually the Kenwood Marine Head Units have the remote wire coming off the back of them, I know this because the one I bought I made sure it had this.

As for the dealer, exactly, I asked them if they could just give me a working one off another boat so I could at least use my deck without me buying one. They said this was impossible, nice right?

And your right about checking on it, they should have done a better job of doing so, so maybe the post should say "go Moomba, but not through Gonnason's"

sandm
10-22-2009, 04:56 PM
it would appear from the op's story that both skiers and the dealership are at fault here to some degree. ultimately, the blame may lie in kenwood's hands for the time to ship a repair/replace unit, but skiers should have been following up, and the dealer should have been following up..
I understand the dealer not wanting to uninstall a deck off a boat for sale to help you out, but after 3-4 weeks(what I would consider an acceptable time waiting), skiers should have taken one out of inventory and shipped it to the dealer, then they deal with kenwood on the repair...

handled wrong in many ways, but glad you have a working unit.. I would hope that if you are stuck with an extra deck now that the dealer or skiers maybe offers a store merch credit for the value of the deck you bought to help out ;)

Rgardipee
10-22-2009, 08:16 PM
They haven't offered any credit for it at all, I wish they would as I have a deck and the amp sitting in the back of my truck looking for a new home.

Wow!! Correct me if I am wrong. I know when I do electrical work on any project, I always check to see it it works. If not then troubleshooting until it works. I know if it didn't work, I will be getting a call from my customer filling my ear with you know what. I wonder why either SC or the dealer did not check this out. I do agree, it was a mistake on both parties. One for not doing the job right and checking it, and for the dealer following up on the entire install. I know when I saw my boat for the very first time, it was still wrapped in the white plastic film. My dealer cut the top open so I can see what it looked like on the inside. I did notice that the tower needed to be built. When I came back the following week, It had just came back from the water test. They did a few tweeks and off to the lake again for our water test. Like I said earlier, the guys I delt with were awesome. They really took care of me. It would be nice if everyone was like that. Great customer service. it seems that subject will be in the history books some day titled "The day we had great customer service" Glad to hear the problem has been taken care of. Now we all hope you can enjoy your boat.

we have every make of wakeboard boat in our circle except for a few Tige,Epic centurion... And Ive seen disasters on all of them. From pumps not working and a MC sinking because of a leak!!! to smoked engines. I dont think it matters.Theres no magic company. Youve got to manage your own boat and cross your fingers, Ive had my boat for 5 years and 2 things went wrong. The impeller which I should of replace after the second year and a dead battery. I have 350 hours on the boat. I paid a third of what most paid for their boats. Dont get me wrong, MC boats are beautiful. Upholstery is better, layout of gauges-there sick boats!!! We added about 500 lbs of lead weight and still dont have the same size wake as a MC or Nautique but can consistintly do spins and basic inverts. Whats not to love. I think because the economy is so bad they are thinning out staff which mean slower service for us but a great time to buy a new boat.

I can understand your frustrations but as you mentioned your other issues were handled right away.

I wouldn't get so worked up over a $130 stereo deck. As long as the majoy parts are taken care of don't sweat the small stuff. Your wasting all that energy bruiting over something when you should spend that time on the water like you said in an earlier post.

I spent 2 months waiting on a 2K upgrade at the start of the season, sometimes nothing you can do but wait. It sucks and its frustrating i know. Right now im dealing with Boat-mate to warranty the pain on my trailer thats only 8 months old. It all cracked about to chip and i have a custom painted trailer to match my boat. Nothing i can do but keep taking pics and bugging them till they say repaint this guys trailer to she will shut the hell up LOL.

Exactly what my Dealer did for me on a cracked ballast strainer 2 days before Memorial Day weekend (Centurion/Nautique dealer). I'd be pissed at the dealer, not SC.

I have a Centurion and ride malibu and other Cents regularly all with problems. If it doesn't keep you off the water then I chalk it up to being a minor thing.

If you bought a MC and had the same issue you'd add to your frustration with "dang boat cost twice as much as a moomba and this crap happens."

----go have a few beers in your Moomba and think of the $30k you saved over a MC and how you can upgrade the stereo?

Sled491

Too bad about this. My stereo had problems as well, but my dealer did put one in from another boat to get me going. I assume they knew that SC would take care of it, as long as they (my dealer) took care of me. Not all dealers, dealership owners, service managers, service techs, sales men, are created equal, it's unfortunate but true.

Lucky for me all the great ones ended up at my dealer :) Go Lauderdale Lakes Marine!!!

My first radio took a crap also. I called my dealership and told them the problem. SC took forever for a response. I went out to buy a new radio. Any other problems I had with the boat, SC took care of it no problem. Maybe it is because it is not their product. Maybe it is a Kenwood issue and not a SC issue. Maybe SC should start putting in the warranty and registration card in with our paper. That way we can take care of it and not depend on someone else to take care of it. I know when I purchase an appliance. I know Sears is not responsible I call the manufacturer and they set something up for repair. I think the same is for the radio.
Just my two cents.

but yet if you buy a new nissan with the bose system installed, nissan covers it, not bose, or mark levinson in a lexus, etc...
now I know that when you buy a new car, the tires are warrantied by the tire company, but in 99% of cases, the dealer will help you take care of it and will ultimately fight the battle for you if the service is not up to par.

if you really want to get down to it, skiers doesn't make the engine, tower, glass, bilge pumps, ballast pumps and steering among many other parts, but they warranty all that stuff.

my .02 is that if skiers chooses to use a kenwood deck, they cover it for the warranty period. they should be doing the fighting at kenwood for you. if kenwood doesn't want to play, then there's a ton of other companies that would love the business. my guess is that there is a larger % of claims on the deck than any other part in the boat(other than gel issues) and skiers just does not want to deal with it.

tazz3069
10-28-2009, 11:12 AM
I agree. I did not mean to say they should not handle it. They definatly should take care of it. I also agree that if they have it in their boat, they should be responsible for it. I guess my example wasn't a good one.
