haha yeah if i knew anything about being a salesman i'd semi consider it! we have 2 decent lakes in our area in east central ohio but no moomba dealers ...only in the cincy area is what i've heard.
i talked to a sales rep from hyperlite and he was really interested in trying to open a board shop around here somewhere. crossing my fingers cause it'd be sure be nice have someone that carries some boards and is knowledgeable enough to help people get into a board they need.

I think all it takes to be a good sales person is Knowledge. Know your product inside and out. Be a user of the product so you can add objective views and thoughts.

Be nice, not pushy, and generally just the type of person people want to be around.

Those are the most successful sales people i know.

Gus I wouldn't laugh I were you. They guy who wants the shop the most is the guy who can do it the best! Plenty info on starting a small business on the internet these days.

Not in sales are you? Being friendly is important but there are many other qualities that are even more important.

costs a pretty penny to participate in these boat shows.

Some of the best selling dealers in the warm South East, where boat sales are king, don't think it's worth the investment right now.

yeah ed that is what i heard but its just sad to see how bad its gotten from 3 years ago to now but i guess thats the economy! just sad i couldn't look around the new moombas and see any of the updates!

well if i had the funds its def something i'd look into for sure but that isn't gonna happen anytime soon cause i don't play the lottery either.
its such an huge initial cost to get something like even started i'm sure!

but yes very valid points from all of ya there on what it takes to make something a go!

Heck they are now(surf board manufacturers). My son won one last year and Deerfields kids won a wakeskate.

Boat sales while not good for our favorite dealers keep those pesky wanna be's off our water ways!

with the lockup in the housing market, I don't think boat sales will ever be what they were 3-6 years ago. too many people buying boats off house values, among other things. they will def. rebound somewhat, but boats are back to being a "luxury" and the consensus is we are in a new era of saving, not spending.

our boat show is in 2 weeks. anxious to see who shows up with what. our supra/moomba dealer and the mastercraft/centurion dealer do not have any inventory right now; lots are empty.. will be no tige or nautique, as the dealer is gone and no plans for a new one right now.. sad...

I agree, except for the savings thing. Everybody is back to paying cash for everything, doesn't leave much for saving :(
