Gen rule of thumb is weight divided by 10 plus 20.

170/10 = 17 + 20 is 37mph for starters.

For what it's worth, we purchased a used 2007 Outback last spring without a tower. I wanted to use the backing blocks that were already installed from the factory so we went with the Monster Tower...

With the boom behind the tower leg, hows the angle of tthe boom? Doesn't it angle to the back of the boat?
