I've fixed a couple of these and both times I was able to turn it out by hand. Finding a new screw is the real challenge.

I usually fill them all the way except leave a little bubble of air at the top. This allows an easy reference to see air and oil. Sometimes the clear lense needs a wipe to clean off the road grime.

I would use the 15 -40. More important to use proper viscosity and change at recommended interval.
