I'm considering grinding off the trailing and side lips of my swim platform. The main reason is when surfing, it looks like the lip is catching a lot of water. I'm not concerned if/what it does to the wake shape, but rather the stress on the platform itself. I'm not sure if it really does stress the platform, I'm just making an assumption. Has anyone done this and/or what issues do you think there are with doing this?

I would suggest try surfing with the platform off first to see what it does

Todd filled his in so the water would not catch on the lip. He's got a thread on it here somewhere.

I'm more concerned with the water pushing against the lip and creating more stress on the platform. I think if I grind it and leave a 1/16 or 1/8th inch lip, it shouldn't affect the integrity of the platform while still improving it over the ~ 2in lip currently there.

I think if you fill it the water won't "catch" on it and will reduce stress.
