So last weekend we finally get the boat out for our first outing of the year (long long story), anyway I launch and let it idle for a few then take off for the cove where we're camping. All is good as I watch the temp at around 110, a few seconds later it's suddenly at 240! I shut it down and let it cool and limp back later to the ramp. After cooling off I check the impellar and trans cooler, all good and clear?!
After buttoning back up and checking everything including it's pulling water into the strainer, I floated it at the ramp and started it up and watched the temp gauge. It sat around 110 degrees for about ten minutes then suddenly shot straight to 240 again. I've come to the preliminary conclusion it's probably the thermostat or the block pump. Oh well, haven't had a chance to check either yet. This year has really sucked in more ways than one!![]()

I had my block pump fail last year and the temps were normal all the way to failure but it squealed like a pig for a long time. I would say it is something else.
