Mine are built with 1" iirc. Flaps came from northern tool and I just cut them to size with a skill saw.

I like this idea. I might need to try it out to convert my guard for a non weight distribution hitch.

I have a louver style and I like it a lot. Plus i can buy replacement louvers for 20 bucks.

I used 1" x 1" x 0.12" stainless tubing. Did the math using the moment of inertia for aluminum tubing and decided aluminum just wasn't as strong as I'd like. The tubing is roughly $20 for 6 feet.

    Default Mud Flaps

I have I admit I am probably not handy enough and don't have the tools to make my own. Cabelas just came out with their version of the rock tamers which are cheaper. Normally 180 but on sale for 139 right now.

I had those on my old motorhome. Half a semi-truck mudflap on each side.
