Default '92 Boomerang w/Pro Boss 5.8 HO Pro Tec - Specs??

I just picked up a '92 Moomba Boomerang w/ 5.8 HO Pro Boss Pro Tech w/360 hrs on it. I like to do all the maintaince myself and I am unfamiliar with this set-up and I am trying to read up as much as possibe. In the past I had a couple of Mercruisers and a few big block jet boats and I did all the work to those.
First thing is I dont know much about the motor, how much hp is it, the PO thought 325hp but that seems high to me. Do the motors have roller cams or should I run an oil additive for the flat tappet cam? Also, a there somewhere to get service manuals?
Second, is there any type of maintaince to do to the prop shaft where it exits the bottom of the hull, like seal wear, greasable bearings/u-joints, tolerances for shaft play?
Third, is there something I need to do for the impeller that feeds lake water to the cooling system of the motor? Our lake I am on is very sandy if it makes any difference.
Fourth, maintance for the transmission, anythng I need to do periodically?

The boat runs/drives perfectly and has great acceleration and handles really nicely. My 6 year old loves it because it is so shallow he can reach the water and gets occasional spray from waves. I just want to keep up the boat and right now I really don't feel confident working on direct drive specific components.

    welcome to moomba.

360 hrs on a 92? that is really low. we have almost half that on our 08! i can't help much with the gearhead stuff (don't they call it something different for a boat guy)

there are lots of smart guys who will help you out.

can you post up some pics?

As far as the hp I do not know... There is a seal between the shaft and the hull, They say it should be replaced every 3 years or so.... The impeller is on the front of the motor is suppost to be replaced every other season. That is what the boat dealer told me.

The 351 is no longer being made, so everyone has a chevy now. It was a very good engine with a lot of low end torque. It should have roller cam and just regular oil will be just fine. Mercruiser is set up a little different than Indmar, your impeller is driven by a belt. You will need to service it once a year. A tip is to keep an extra impeller in the boat, but your impeller is much more difficult to change out than an Indmar setup. At a minimum, I believe your boat is 265hp, but it is probably 285hp. Either way, it has enough power for that boat.
    Hope that helps a little.

Info on the PCM is easily available online. Many manufactuers still use them, just not Skiers Choice. Shaft seal easy ( remember it is supposed to leak some, this is normal), impellor once a year, synthetic oil once every year or 50 hrs up to you.

Other than that, that is a very fine looking 92. Who ever had it before you realy babied her. Congrats and welcome to the family.
