Moomba Takes 'No Worries' Performance to the Next Level
Rick Tinker, Skier’s Choice long-time president and a leading voice in the continued expansion of the performance towboat industry opened the 2006 Moomba dealer meeting with a simple, declarative statement: “We are not in the business of building cheap boats. We are in the business of building boats more intelligently. Reliable, tournament quality wake producing machines that are fun to buy, fun to drive, fun to ride behind, and ultimately fun to own. That’s what we mean when we promise prospective owners ‘NO WORRIES’.”
As prices within the performance towboat market segment escalate at an unprecedented rate, Moomba continues to make true water sport enthusiast performance affordable to a wide range of customers.
“There is no secret to the success of our Moomba line,” said Mike Shirley, Skier’s Choice engineering manager. “We don’t cut corners on quality, and we don’t take needless design risks. We never compromise on the wake-shaping ability of our hulls, or on the performance and reliability of our power plants. We simply build a true performance boat that meets the needs of the avid water sport enthusiast without the ‘excessories’ that decorate competitive product lines and marketing programs.”
The new Outback V is one of a select few V-Drive boats that can be purchased for less than $30,000. Coupled with a freshly updated Outback, a true 3-sport classic performer that offers waterskiers and wakeboarders direct drive performance for under $25,000, first-time buyers will find true value in the performance boat class. Large open bows, convertible rear seats, built in coolers, abundant storage for skis and boards, EZ Cruise on EFI engines, and a bevy of new appointments mark these two models.
No boat in the Moomba line better demonstrates the remarkable juxtaposition of value, comfort, and performance better than the all new LSV. With its new multi-purpose hull design, new windshield, new transom styling, upgraded upholstery, and a new deeper and wider lounge seating area, the $35,000 V-Drive competes easily and effectively against similar size boats that sell for nearly twice its price.
Additional new boats in the line include the Mobius LS and LSV, both offering deeper, family-friendly gunnels, new style lines and gel coat options, huge storage, and brand new dash, upholstery, graphics and sound systems that can be found on all models in the Moomba line.
“Marketing the Moomba brand presents a unique opportunity,” said Michael Littman, Skier’s Choice marketing director. “We have a great product story to tell but we limit our marketing costs in favor of maximizing the ownership experience. We simply have to rely on word of mouth and our excellent dealer network to expose Moomba to active water sport enthusiasts who demand tournament quality wakes and reliable day-after-day performance but opt for value over flashy appearance items.”
The 2006 line-up includes the Outback, Outback V, Outback LS and Outback LSV along with the Mobius LS, Mobius LSV, Mobius XLV, and an XLV Gravity Games edition. All boats offer extra storage space, excellent options and can seat at least 10 people and still have room for wakeboarding gear.
This year’s Moomba line also comes standard with some of the most sought after options in the waterski towboat class including a powerful V-Drive configuration ensuring extra space for friends and wakeboarding gear, the swept back Rad-a-Cage Tower, and the front Gravity I Ballast system. Each boat is also equipped with a built-in cooler and laminated, non-woven upholstery. In addition, each Moomba comes standard with a color-matched single or tandem torsion axle trailer (depending on the model) with disc brakes.
While the standard options are more than most would expect, boat enthusiast can customize any purchase with a wide range of options including the 4-blade CNC prop, a hydraulic wakeplate, PerfectPassÔ Wakeboard Pro System, wakeboard racks, tower speakers or a Kenwood audio system that can be accessed even from the water. Add to that style the performance of a 310 hp V-8 engine and expect the perfection only the Moomba line can offer.
However, Moomba lovers can do more than customize features; accent colors and graphic patterns also can be customized. Choose from a variety of eye-catching accent colors created using the best materials. From the 22 mil thick CCP Armor Flex gelcoat to the G&T vinyl with stain resistant topcoat, boat owners can rest assured the Moomba provides high-quality craftsmanship in addition to great value.
